Titan Shops' Textbook Rental FAQ

Q: How much can I save by renting books?
A: CSUF students typically save 50% or more by renting books versus buying new.

Q: Is there a limit to the number of books I can rent?
A: Nope!

Q: When is the best time to rent my books?
A: Most rental titles become available 2 to 3 weeks before classes begin.  We continue to add rental titles as the start of classes approach, so be sure to check back regularly.

Q: How do I rent my books?
A: Books may be rented online or in-store provided the student is currently enrolled at CSUF and possesses a valid campus wide ID.

If renting in-store at Titan Shops or Irvine Campus bookstore, please follow these steps:

  1. Locate your books on the selling floor. Look for the "Rent Me" sticker.
  2. When you are done shopping, bring your rental to any cash register in the store.
  3. Agree to the terms of the rental agreement.
  4. Pay with cash or credit. Note: A credit card is required to secure the rental for the duration of the semester. The card must not expire before the rental due date.
  5. At the end of the semester, return the rentals to Titan Shops or Irvine Campus bookstore.

If renting online:

  1. Start shopping here or through the Campus Portal via the "My Textbooks" link.
  2. Add the rentals to your cart and check-out.
  3. Agree to the terms of the rental agreement.
  4. Select the shipping method or pickup location.
  5. Supply a credit card that will not expire before the rental due date.
  6. Submit the order.
  7. Return the rentals to Titan Shops or Irvine Campus bookstore at the end of the semester.

Q: When must I return the rental?
A: All rental books are due back to Titan Shops or Irvine Campus by the Friday of finals week.

Q: What if I don't return the rental book on time?
A: Late fees will apply. Please refer to the rental fees above.

Q: What if I want to keep the rental?
A: Simply visit Titan Shops' or Irvine Campus bookstore by the due date and pay the book's remaining balance.

Q: Can I highlight in the rental book?
A: It is okay to highlight, however it should be minimal.

Q: If I drop or change my class, can I get a refund?
A: Yes. Please refer to Support for refund deadlines.
